Description

Original meme by Kyoichin: fav.me/d3fq5c4

I was just in the mood to do another meme. First of all, let me explain that I am just doing this for fun. Well, most people put together memes just for run, right? I usually get an urge to do a meme about once a year, but this year the urge came 4 months early (usually it hits me when I am on holiday break around Christmas).

Secondly, I wanted to say that you will probably not like one or more of my selections. I must admit, I am picking them for a variety of reasons. Some characters, I just don't like how they turned out (i.e. could have been so much better). Other ones, I just don't think they contributed (or perhaps they detracted) from a story. Yet others, I may find just downright annoying as necessary as they are for the story. I will explain in detail below, but these are my choices based on the anime I have watched. If you don't like a choice, I encourage you to leave feedback and explain why, but do not flame! I will respect your differing opinion if you respect mine as well. Your choice will inevitably not be the exact same as mine. But hey, you can always do one of these too!

Top 10 Hated Anime Guys

1. Yota from Naruto Shippuden - The only truly minor character that I've included on this list and when I say minor, I mean that he appeared in all of 3 episodes - filler episodes - in the 500+ total episodes of Naruto and Shippuden. I found this character to be the ultimate in annoying, so much so he made the #1 spot on my list. He was a small child who could control the weather with his emotions - so he would cry, laugh, etc. to make it rain, snow, etc. Kon Kon Kon! Problem was, he reminded me of an incoherent crybaby who would just run around shouting and doing whatever he wanted. A babysitter's worst nightmare...

2. Omaeda from Bleach - What can I say? I just don't like the guy. A lazy, fat, balding guy...not that there is anything wrong with that...but being a lazy, fat, balding guy who thinks he's God's gift to both women and shinigami skills? Uh, no. Just no. Soi Fon runs around avoiding him, calling him worthless. To tell you the truth, I agree. Perhaps I wouldn't have had an issue if he were just a squad member, but how the heck did he get to be a lieutenant? And of squad 2, the Stealth Force? Geez.

3. Mr. Satan from Dragon Ball Z - I know, I know. He wasn't supposed to be strong like the Saiyan. He was purely clumsy fodder meant for laughter in DBZ. I get that. But I still don't like him! He's not altogether bad. Obviously, he loves his family...and he does have martial arts skills. I just rewatched the tournament episodes where there was a flashback to him defeating Spopovich (he was wondering how on earth he beat up Videl). The fact that he can't follow along...doesn't put 2+2 together to figure out who the real heroes are, he takes credit for others' heroics and victories, etc. He wants to be adored and will say or do anything to do it. In other words, money and his public persona are the most important things to him.

4. Sho from Skip Beat! - This one is pretty straight forward. Hometown guy makes it big as a singer and hometown girl does everything in her power to go with him, support him, etc. He feels less than committed to this girl who bends over backwards for him and ends up dropping her like a hot potato when it is convenient for him. One redeeming thought - without the break up, there would have been no premise for Skip Beat!

5. Seimei from Loveless - Loving, older brother or evil, manipulating jerk? Over time, as the series plays out, we find out that Ritsuka's beloved brother who was thought to have died in a fire, actually faked his death and is doing horrible things behind the scenes to both Ritsuka and Soubi (whom I love), a Fighter who is now paired with Ritsuka (and ends up abandoning him because he has no choice being under Seimei's wil). I won't got into the Fighter/Sacrifice thing here...just too complicated to explain. But this guys is two-faced for sure.

6. Makoto from School Days - I would guess most "hated" lists have this guy on there. Do I have to explain? Short story: he's a cheater and a male slut and only thinks about himself.

7. Irie from Itazura na Kiss - I have a love/hate relationship with this anime. Irie is one of the main reasons, but so is the female protagonist, Aihara. She loves him with all her might starting in high school. He's a jerk, but she still loves him. He wants nothing to do with her, but she still loves him...now you get the jist of the story. She chases, he resists. Eventually, you get drawn in and see the kisses and confessions he gives to her now and again (very rarely). But all in all, he never smiles, is very selfish, and complains about Aihara more than anything. All-in-all, I'm happy it worked out in anime-world, but in real life, this would have been downright depressing. She definitely deserved better than him.

8. Alois Trancy from Black Butler (S2) - snotty, good-for-nothing, plotting doofus who thinks he is better than he is. Not many redeeming qualities about him. But then again, this is probably what the story needed and he played the part...doesn't mean I didn't hate him though.

9. Chouji from Naruto - Oh Chouji, Chouji, Chouji. He's one of my least favorite male characters in Naruto. And let me be clear, he does get better in Shippuden, though he still isn't my favorite. The "woe is me" attitude...the fact that he didn't get his head screwed on straight until the middle of the Fourth Ninja World War. Now, if Chouji had been like butterfly-wings Chouji from the beginning...bad-ass and taking names, I would have been a lot happier. But mostly I found him following everyone else's leads and whining a lot (and constantly eating).

10. Yukio Okumura from Ao No Exorcist - I might get some flak for this one. He was....ok, I guess. However, when I sat back and watched this anime, his actions and attitude just really annoyed me. Rin was awesome. Yukio is Rin's brother. Yukio put his job and aspirations ahead of his family and friends at times and he was very judgmental. I watched this a while ago so it isn't as fresh, but I just remember not really caring for how this guy was.

Top 10 Hated Anime Girls

1. Karin from Naruto Shippuden - Psycho! Ok, so she seemed to be intelligent (she did run one of Orochimaru's prisons for gosh sake) and she had some incredible abilities (the biting to heal, and the instant ability to pinpoint where chakras were). But the fact that she was willing to give up everything just for a chance with Sasuke. In a bind? Got some serious situation going? Let's argue with Suigetsu and dote on Sasuke a bit more when perhaps more attention should be on, oh I don't know, the bad situation you are in? Sasuke was infallible to her, so much that you wanted to puke! She finally cut all ties with Sasuke only after he stabbed her...and that didn't seem to last too long either (refer to last 20 or so chapters of the manga for more explanation on that). Now I must admit, Sasuke Uchiha is one of my favorite anime characters ever and the fact that she so overtly salivates over him might be one reason I dislike her so much.

2. Chi Chi from Dragon Ball Z - My least favorite character from DBZ by far. Hot-headed. Ignored Goku when he was really injured because Gohan (who was fine) was more important. Didn't appreciate the gifts and abilities that her family possessed. Selfish. Told Gohan to study constantly (even got him a tutor that was going to physically hit him) and not have fun ever (didn't care about his happiness). Told Goten that she hated the super saiyan abilities so much so he wasn't allowed to transform when she was around. Even though Goku winced when she was around, I am so glad he didn't listen to her most of the time.

3. Priscilla from Claymore - a newbie Claymore who couldn't accept defeat gracefully. She couldn't accept she was that far below Teresa's power such that she continued to pursue her and eventually went beyond her limit and awakened.

4. Momo Hinamori from Bleach - I never liked Momo. Aizen betrayed everyone and even after that, she was seemingly on his side. She was prepared to stab her childhood best friend to protect her captain despite his betrayal. Weak, lack of mental stability and strength both go against her. Untrustable. Dependent. No self-confidence.

5. Megumi from Sukitte Ii na yo - Megumi was one of those characters who decided she wanted the main protagonist guy from an anime even though he was dating current protagonist girl. She made herself pretty, batted her eyelashes, and showed off the fact that she was a model...all to no avail (yea!) She treated the friends who did stick by her like crap. The fact that she was so shallow really got on my nerves! If you couldn't do something for her, if she couldn't use her, then don't even bother being around her.

6. Nagisa from Clannad - I know a lot of you disagree with me about this one. When I did a google search on "best romantic animes", Clannad is right there at the top. So why? I just read a good one. "So she's weak, so she's a cry-baby...does that make her hateworthy?" The cliche of "woe is me" or damsel in distress constantly was annoying! I loved Tomoya and here he was going to end up with a girl who was completely dependent on him for the rest of his life? Is she a bad girl? No, she's sweet, innocent, etc. but frankly, not my cup of tea. I dislike characters who can't do things for themselves.

7. Soi Fon from Bleach - A lot of people are going to get on me for this one as well. Soi Fon is awesome in many respects! She is a captain and she has incredible abilities (I don't really care for her bankai, but that's just a personal preference). Her attitude towards Yoruichi was annoying, and her attitude towards her troops (dictator vs. coach) was less than textbook. So, Soi Fon likes Yoruichi. I can see many situations where a woman likes, respects, has meaningful conversations with another strong woman and it "feels" just fine. For example, Yoruichi's demeanor towards Soi Fon is just fine. But the whole strong woman falling into a puddle of mush when a black cat comes into view is just downright...annoying. I hate Omaeda as well, but she does treat him like crap (if she didn't like him, why is he in that position). And she's such a dictator...in most cases, if you lead like that, your troops will walk the other way. Just because you are a leader, it doesn't give you the right to treat others like dirt.

8. Hinata from Naruto - So many of the other animes on this list may be a bit fuzzy in my memory. Obviously, some of them I may have watched some time ago and I'm going based on memory and lasting impressions. Hinata is not one of them. Naruto Shippduen is my #1 anime and manga and I am definitely up-to-date. I love it for sure. I even like Hinata and Naruto together as a couple if that ends up happening. However, the Hinata, especially from Naruto, was quiet, had no self-confidence, and had to look to others for encouragement constantly. I'm not saying it was all her fault - she was brought up with a sheltered background and she was never good enough in her father's eyes - I get that. But for gosh sake, don't faint and turn bright red when Naruto walks by and talks to you. Oh, and speak up!

9. Kaoru from Rurouni Kenshin
10. Kagome from Inuyasha - These two are on here for many of the same reasons. There are a TON of lead female characters that frankly, I don't care for. I sat back for a moment and thought "Is it because I am a girl as well?" No, that's not it...there are a lot of female characters...and not all of them are strong and self-assured...that I do like. One example is Orihime Inoue from Bleach (many others do not like her). So why do characters like Kaoru and Kagome annoy me? Dependency? The fact that they are willing to throw everything away or look beyond an certain situation or issue just to make the man happy? Indecisiveness? Air headedness? Tempers? I know it is a combination of some of these, and is probably situation dependent as well.

Kaoru with her stick fighting and naive ways. She, at times, seems to have a superiority complex. And at times she doesn't quite get the situation that she or Kenshin are really in. Clingyness = annoying. Perhaps a tad bit immature, selfish, and dependent.

Kagome vs. Kikyo (she is my #11, by the way - cold and emotionless) and the ping-pong match between them for Inuyasha. Even though Inuyasha still obviously has feelings for Kikyo, Kagome eventually is always there with open arms to whole-heartedly take him back and hopes he'll be with her for good. Manipulative, uses that necklace of his to keep him in check, and always plays the character that needs to be saved. Self-righteous.

You think Hinata is the most overrated girl in Naruto?
